The LG Nexus : The complete roundup.

No , that isn’t the Galaxy Nexus. It’s the newer one , the LG one

The rumours about the nexus had stormed the internet months ago. But people weren’t really sure what to think of it. LG isn’t really the best company making phones right now. But most of us were pleasantly surprised as more details about the device began to surface and now , we absolutely MUST have it.

Its just a matter of time before it comes out – according to recent reports it’s going to come as early as October 29th !!
It is also being called by a number of names -

LG Nexus 4 - the most popular one

LG E960

LG Optimus G Nexus.
We’re just going to call it LG Nexus for simplicity. Now that you’ve been brought up to speed , let’s delve a little bit into the specifics -
Software.
Several reports and a review of the Nexus prototype ( from this russian website here , you can translate it using google translate )have surfaced but none of them have shown the emergence of 4.2 , but it wasn’t 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 either. It was also a version in its developmental stages. It had several bugs too. At this point we aren’t really sure whether this nexus will come with 4.2 ( or possibly 5.0 )
The design.

Three on screen buttons and an LED

The design has leaked a long time before the release , so all the excitement is probably gone . Here are some pictures we managed to gather. The design is strikingly similar to the Galaxy Nexus aside from a few changes such as the glass back and the repositioned camera. Here are a few specifics we could gather.
1.The inclusion of a multi-colored LED noficiation
2.The micro SIM slot is on the left side below the volume rocker.

The different slot.

3.The back is completely smooth and glossy, perhaps scratch-resistant glass.
4.Size is 134 x 69.2 x 9.2 mm
5.Weight is 139 g
6.The externals will be made of extremely high quality plastic.
7.The screen will be made using high quality scratch resistant glass ( Possibly Corning Gorilla Glass 2 )
That’s pretty much all we know. The design is coming to be somewhat of a trademark of the Nexus. We love it.

The one on the left is the LG one.

The Camera.

The camera.

According to several sources , it will house an 8 Megapixel camera with dual – LED flash. However , these pictures from the Russian review are not very promising.

The app looks the same .

Here are some of the pictures taken with the camera -

Statue.

Colours.

Dead flowers.

But we must remember that it is still in its prototype stages , so there is still huge scope for improvement.
The processor.
According to several sources , the LG Nexus will come with Qualcomm’s quad core S4 – a powerhouse. It will be based of the newly released LG Optimus G , so you can expect amazing things. However , initial benchmarks are not very encouraging. We must remember that it is in its prototype stage now , so let’s not be judgemental.

AnTuTu benchmark results.

Quadrant benchmarks.

The display.

Now that’ll be a comparison we would love to do.

Based on the fact that it will be based off the LG Optimus G , it will have a 4.7′ display with a resolution of 1280 x 768 and will include LG’s awesome technologies such as True HD IPS and Zerogap which makes everything clearer by eliminating the gap between the LCD and the touch screen , similar to the iPhone 5. The display will , probably also have a high ppi , rumours indicate that it might even be close to the iPhone 5′s retina display.
Other stuff.
It will also include NFC i.e. Android Beam.
Something that has puzzled everybody is that the Nexus prototype did not have expandable storage and had just 8 GB internal storage. This defies the android platform which has always given its users the freedom to expand storage.
The pricing.
The most accurate rumours show that it will be priced at 399 $ . A reasonable price.
Overall , we cannot wait for it to be released officially and you can be sure , that we will be covering it all the way.

A perfect fit.

Also , our wish list for the software that we want to see inside the LG Nexus – the 4.2 – can be found here.

UPDATE : It will also sport 2 GB of RAM , near perfect.
