Google, after the Nexus 7 which was a massive hit recently announced the new Nexus 10, which boasts a 10 inch retina display and bests even the Apple’s latest iPad in terms of screen resolution. The Nexus 10 is a real breakthrough as far as Android Tablets are concerned. It has some amazing features but all are actually overshadowed by the retina display that the Nexus 10 offers. Nexus 10 is actually the first Android Tablet to have introduced the retina display. It has a resolution of 2,560×1,600 pixels, which surely surpasses the 4th gen iPad’s resolution of 2,048×1,536 pixels. I said that most features are eclipsed, now what are those features, read on to know.
Design and Display.
As I mentioned above, the Google Nexus 10 features a ultra-high resolution of 2,560×1,600 pixels displaying 299 pixels per inch. It has a 10.1 inch Super PLS (Plane to line switching) panel which makes the screen look even more brilliant with everything on it amazingly sharp and crisp. The screen also supports multitouch.
The Tablet weighs just 1.33 pounds, so it feels really light and enhances the tablet’s portability. On the back it has a soft plastic rubbery texture that feels extremely good to hold and enables us a strong grip. This textured back is pretty much the same as the Nexus 7, just that it has been made much better. At the top edge, there is also a Black rugged strip that runs horizontally with the Nexus 7 black rubbery feel. And at the center, there is the Nexus branding. Its just 0.35 inches thick, 10.39 inches high and 6.99 inches wide.
The Nexus 10 is designed by Google and perfected by Samsung. It houses the Samsung’s latest 1.7GHz dual-core Exynos 5250 processor; this should make the tablet fast enough to handle high end games and apps seamlessly without any pauses. And for the graphics, it has the ARM Mali-T604 GPU. One more good news for the Android lovers is that the Tablet will be shipped with the Android’s latest 4.2 Jelly Bean, Oh! and yes, the latest Android OS retains its older name instead of moving to some other rumored names like the Key Lime Pie or something; and so with this Google also confirmed that you can have different user profiles on the Nexus 10. The Tablet also packs within a massive 2GB of RAM. It is available with memory options of 16GB and 32GB.
Nexus 10 also has some useful ports which include a Micro HDMI and a Micro USB port, a video out and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The Tablet comes with media streaming options like the DLNA and the new Miracast wireless streaming. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC (Near Field Communications) and GPS. It also comes with wide variety of sensors: Ambient Light, Gyroscope, Compass and Accelerometer.
And the camera, the Nexus 10 has an effective 5MP rear camera with LED flash capable of 1080p HD video recording, and an 1.9MP front camera.
The Nexus 10 has a massive 9000 mAh battery which Samsung claims will last for 9 hours, though its still not as much as the iPad 4th gen’s 10 hour battery.
The Nexus 10 is indeed a good deal at a price of $399 for 16GB and $499 for 32GB, it has some latest specs and an impressive design like its predecessor. For the Nexus 10, the Google Play Store has been updated with HD content so that it could support the new high resolution retina display of this tablet. It will began shipping form the 13th of November, wait till it comes to our hand so we can give you a detailed review. Till then stay tuned.
